Occupational therapy

At Neurohappy, we provide individualized and evidence-based occupational therapy services for children and their families. We aim to empower these children and their families to understand themselves, build on each other’s strengths, advocate for their needs, and feel happy and connected as a family unit.

our approach to therapy

Relationship-based: As professionals, we prioritize building strong relationships with clients and their families. These relationships are the critical foundation to provide therapeutic services!

Family-centred: As professionals, we endeavour to work with all members of the family! Whatever interventions we put into place, they must work for everyone in the family. We focus on supporting the complete family unit!

Developmental approach: As professionals, we take a developmental approach. This means that we are not training specific skills, but rather we are removing the barriers. By removing the barriers that are in the way of their natural development, they are able to continue on their intrinsic developmental journey.

Naturalistic & Play-based: While providing therapy, we take a naturalistic and play-based approach. This means that we follow your child’s lead in play and engage in what they are interested in.

What does therapy look like?

We are all a team guided by the child and family. We will work together as a therapeutic team to build strong relationships to support the child and the family in removing the barriers to the child’s natural development through play.

Who do we see

We see families who have government contracts with Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) as well as families who pay privately. Many insurance plans include funding for occupational therapy, which can support funding for therapy.

Our approach

At Neurohappy, we work with the family to identify their goals and priorities for service. From there, we can assess and provide services for areas like emotional regulation, transitions, independent self-care tasks (toileting, showering), food exploration, and more! Occupational therapists provide services for a wide variety of areas, so reach out today if you think your child and family may benefit from working with an occupational therapist!
